Basra Governor and Japanese Ambassador Discuss Cooperation in Energy, Water, and Infrastructure


Basra: Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani discussed with the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, Akira Endo, ways to enhance cooperation in the energy, water, and infrastructure sectors. During his reception of the Japanese Ambassador, the Governor stressed the importance of leveraging Japanese expertise in these fields.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Governor praised Japan’s experience in post-war reconstruction and recovery. He emphasized the significance of utilizing Japan’s expertise to develop Basra and enhance partnerships in development projects. The meeting highlighted opportunities for collaboration that could lead to significant improvements in Basra’s infrastructure and utilities.



For his part, the Japanese Ambassador expressed satisfaction with the security stability in Basra. He stressed that the current stable environment encourages attracting more Japanese investments and enhances opportunities for economic cooperation with the governorate. Ambassador Endo’s remarks indicated a positive outlook for future engagements and investments between Japan and Basra, potentially benefiting the region’s economic landscape.
