Basra Police Arrest Five in Caf© Gambling Bust

Basra: Five people were arrested for gambling inside a caf© in Basra. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Police Command stated in a press release that, based on information received about gambling taking place in a caf© in the old city of Basra, the Basra Police Chief, Major General Latif Abdul-Ridha Al-Saad, directed the formation of a team under the command of the Al-Ashar Police Station Director. The team proceeded to the location and apprehended five individuals while they were gambling.

The statement added, "Legal measures were taken against them in accordance with Article (389/Third) of the Penal Code." The police command emphasized its commitment to protecting society from this scourge, noting that the responsibility is shared, beginning with awareness and culminating in a safer and more stable society.
