Basra: The Basra Governorate Police Command announced an incident in one of its districts that resulted in the death of two people and the injury of two others, all suspected drug dealers with prior criminal records, after a dispute escalated into a shootout.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Command's media office stated in a press release: "Our units immediately cordoned off the area and imposed strict security measures. The bodies were transferred to the Forensic Medicine Department, and the wounded were taken to the hospital for treatment. An urgent investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances and motives behind the incident."
The Command affirmed, according to the statement, its continued pursuit of all those who trade or distribute narcotics, emphasizing that the long arm of the law will reach anyone who attempts to tamper with the security and stability of the governorate.
