Basra Police Free a Kidnapped Person and Arrest Two Suspects Within Half an Hour


Basra: The Basra Police Command announced the release of a kidnapped person and the arrest of two suspects within half an hour.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Command stated in a statement: “Based on a call received via the Ministry of Interior’s (911) hotline regarding a kidnapping and assault incident involving a person from outside the governorate, within the jurisdiction of the city’s Anti-Crime Division, a force from the division immediately moved to the scene in the Al-Huwair area.



It added: “Through initial investigations, it was revealed that the two suspects lured the victim after promising him a job opportunity within Basra Governorate. They then detained him, before the security forces were able to locate him and reach him in a record time of no more than half an hour.”



The statement explained: “During the operation, the kidnapped person was safely released, and two suspects involved in the incident were arrested. Legal measures were taken against them and they were detained in accordance with the provisions of Article 421 of the Penal Code.”



The Police Command urged citizens “not to deal with unknown persons or unofficial job offers posted on social media, and to immediately report any similar cases via the hotline (911) to ensure a rapid response and protect society from fraud or solicitation.”
