Basra:Basra police have denied reports of an explosion during a recent operation aimed at arresting a drug dealer, labeling the circulating news as false.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Governorate Police Command clarified that the reports of an explosion are unfounded and stem from the republication of an old news item. The command emphasized that this misinformation is an attempt to mislead public opinion by presenting it as a current incident.

The police leadership has urged citizens and media outlets to depend on official sources for accurate news and to avoid spreading rumors. They have also warned that legal action will be pursued against individuals or entities disseminating false information, in accordance with the law.
