Belgian Football Association Parts Ways with National Team Coach Garcia

Baghdad: The Belgian Football Association has announced that it will not renew the contract of national team coach Rudi Garcia, which is set to expire on July 31, 2026. Garcia, a Frenchman, took over the coaching role on February 1, 2025, following the tenure of Domenico Tedesco.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, under Garcia's leadership, the Belgian national team achieved significant milestones, including securing a spot in the UEFA Nations League (League A) and qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. Despite these achievements, the team was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the World Cup by Spain, who eventually won the tournament.

During his time as coach, Garcia led the Belgian national team in 20 matches, securing 12 victories, 6 draws, and only 2 losses. This role marked Garcia's first experience coaching a national team.
