Istanbul: Turkish side Besiktas advanced to the Europa League play-offs after defeating Czech visitors Hradec Kr¡lov© 1-0 in the second leg of their third qualifying round tie at the Topras Stadium in Istanbul last night. The Turkish team repeated their victory over their opponents, having already won by the same scoreline in the first leg last week at the Malsovica Arena, securing their qualification with a 2-0 aggregate score.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Besiktas will now face Lithuanian side €š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬¦½algiris in the play-off round for a place in the Europa League group stage. The first leg will be played on August 20 in Istanbul, with the return leg taking place at €š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬¦½algiris Stadium on August 27.

The home side started the match with attacking pressure in search of an early goal, and Orkun K¶k§ almost opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a powerful left-footed shot from outside the penalty area, but it struck the crossbar. Besiktas translated their dominance into a goal in the 40th minute through Czech player Vaclav Czerny, who broke free and slotted home with his right foot from inside the penalty area, capitalizing on a perfectly weighted through ball from Benin’s Junior Olaytan.

In the second half, the Czech team pressed forward in search of an equalizer, creating several dangerous chances, the most notable being a header from Frantisek Cech in the first minute of stoppage time, but goalkeeper Alexander Nbel made a brilliant save to tip it over the bar for a corner. Besiktas held onto their lead until the final whistle, securing their place in the European playoffs with a comfortable advantage and continuing their journey towards the league stage of the competition.
