Baghdad US President Joe Biden affirmed his support for the European Union as a key partner of the United States, and his commitment to continue implementing the outcomes of the summit held between the two sides last June.

A White House statement said that this confirmation came during phone conversations between Biden and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, in which they discussed the work of the US-EU Trade and Technology Board to ensure that its rules are linked to market principles and address emerging challenges.

The statement indicated that the two sides also discussed the need to take steps to address the climate crisis in conjunction with the preparations for the United Nations climate conference in Glasgow, Scotland, later this month, in addition to Biden’s strong support for the accession of Western Balkan countries to the European Union and the importance of US-European cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
