Blinken calls on Lavrov to end the special military operation and start a diplomatic dialogue

Baghdad / NINA / – US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called, during a conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the G-20 summit, to end the special operation in Ukraine and start a diplomatic dialogue.

“I asked the Russian Foreign Minister, to end this war of aggression and engage in meaningful diplomacy that can lead to a just and lasting peace,” Blinken said at a press conference following the G20 meeting in India.

At the same conference, the US Secretary of State confirmed that he had informed Lavrov that Washington was ready to cooperate with Moscow in the field of nuclear arms control.

Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, with the aim of protecting people who have been subjected to persecution and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the ultimate goal of the operation is to liberate Donbass and create conditions that guarantee Russia’s security./ End
