Baghdad: The Board of Commissioners of the Media and Communications Commission has approved the allocation of free FM frequencies for radio stations during the Arbaeen pilgrimage period. This decision was made during the board’s regular meeting, which was chaired by Dr. Eng. Balasim Salem.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting also focused on attracting more international companies to participate in the Commission’s projects, aiming to enhance investment and improve service levels. Additionally, the board addressed the frequency spectrum issue by hosting specialists from the relevant department to provide technical opinions, ultimately approving proposals in line with regulatory and technical requirements.

In a move to support the success of the Arbaeen pilgrimage, the allocation of free FM radio frequencies is intended to aid media coverage and assist pilgrims and supporting agencies. The board also examined the issue of short numbers for citizen services, deciding to address each case based on legal and technical considerations.

Furthermore, the Board of Commissioners underscored the necessity of collecting outstanding debts from companies and committed to taking necessary actions to protect the Authority’s rights and ensure financial obligations are fulfilled within the legal framework.
