Baghdad: Baghdad Operations Command announced today the closure of 10 unofficial parking lots (garages) and the detection of violations in the capital.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the command stated that, through the Parking Lots/Garages Follow-up Committee, supported by Baghdad Municipality departments and holding units, duties of inspecting and monitoring unauthorized parking lots on both sides of Karkh and Rusafa were carried out. Ten parking lots were closed for violating the applicable terms and conditions, and a number of their owners were arrested for exploiting the sidewalks and illegally collecting money from citizens in these areas.

The statement further explained that these measures are taken out of concern for the safety and security of residents, the preservation of public and private property, and the prevention of exploitation of the weak-minded and illegal collection of money.
