Basra: The Basra Civil Defense Directorate has announced the recovery of the body of a woman in her twenties from an artesian well in the Safwan district, situated west of Basra.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Directorate revealed in a press statement that the Civil Defense teams, with assistance from a drilling rig provided by the Oil Company and local civil efforts, successfully retrieved the body. The woman was found in a 32-meter-deep artesian well located in the Safwan farms within the Al-Raha area.

The Directorate further mentioned that forensic evidence teams are currently investigating the matter to determine the causes surrounding the incident.
