Bodyguards of Iraqi MP Arrested for Assault and Attempted Kidnapping in Kirkuk


Kirkuk: The Security Media Cell has announced the execution of arrest warrants against the bodyguards of a member of parliament following a violent incident in Kirkuk. A joint security force from the Kirkuk Operations Command and the Kirkuk Police, under the supervision of the Joint Operations Command, conducted the operation, targeting seven individuals accused of assaulting a family in the province. The attackers reportedly stormed the family’s home, opened fire, and attempted to kidnap one of the sons.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Security Media Cell released a statement detailing the incident. It revealed that the attack was perpetrated by the bodyguards of MP Muhaymin al-Hamdani and included an assault on an army officer who intervened in an attempt to halt the attack. The statement highlighted the ongoing efforts of security forces in their search and investigation operations to apprehend all individuals involved in the incident.



The statement further emphasized that investigations are actively continuing to ensure accountability for everyone implicated in the attack. It underscored a commitment to justice and conveyed a clear message that the law will be upheld without exception, ensuring that all perpetrators face the consequences of their actions.
