Baghdad: The Border Ports Authority announced the seizure of two vehicles at the Zurbatiya border crossing after discovering that the weights of their cargo had been manipulated, resulting in a loss of public funds.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, authority spokesman Alaa al-Qaisi stated that the Zurbatiya border crossing directorate, upon obtaining judicial approval from the investigating judge of the Badra Court, seized the vehicles at a search and inspection point outside the customs area. The vehicles were carrying various materials including PVC pipes and fittings, electrical conduits, water filters, and other pipes, tubes, and hoses.

The inspection revealed that the weights of the goods had been manipulated to evade customs duties, causing financial losses to public funds. Alaa al-Qaisi further explained that a formal seizure report was prepared and the two vehicles were transferred to the Zurbatiya Customs Police Station. The case is set to be presented before the investigating judge of the Badra Court for necessary legal action against the violators.
