British Archaeologist Delivers Insightful Lecture on Diyala’s Antiquities


Diyala: Dr. Caroline Sanders, an archaeologist at UCL University in the UK, delivered a lecture titled ‘Khan Bani Saad: Between Ancient History and Prosperous Future’ at the College of Basic Education at the University of Diyala.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ali Abdul Hussein, Director of Media at the University of Diyala, stated that the lecture emphasized the stages of restoration of archaeological monuments in Diyala Governorate, focusing particularly on Khan Bani Saad. Dr. Sanders identified the most prominent archaeological sites in the region, shedding light on their historical and cultural significance.



He further explained that the lecture addressed the challenges facing archaeological monuments and explored methods for preserving this crucial cultural heritage. Additionally, it discussed potential mechanisms for cooperation between local and international academic institutions in the areas of documentation and protection.
