Baghdad: The Cabinet has approved a series of measures aimed at maximizing state resources and reducing expenditures. These measures include the formation of a committee to oversee the implementation of Cabinet decisions concerning the payment obligations of public companies and self-financing departments to the public treasury.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Cabinet has instructed the relevant committee to provide a comprehensive report on non-oil revenues that are due to the public treasury, the region, and the governorates. This initiative is part of a larger effort to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of state resources.
The Cabinet also decided to continue the operations of a previously established committee, formed under Diwani Order (87 of 2025), which will persist in supervising the adoption of automation in government sectors, as well as electronic collection and payment procedures. This move is intended to streamline operations and enhance efficiency within government institutions.
In addition, the Ministry of Communications, along with the Media and Communications Commission, has been tasked with collecting and settling monthly payments from telecommunications and internet companies. This decision aims to ensure that these sectors contribute their fair share to the state’s revenue.
Furthermore, the responsibilities of a committee established by Decision (85 of 2026) have been expanded to include investigating entities that are delinquent in implementing Cabinet decisions. This will help enforce compliance and ensure that all sectors adhere to the outlined directives.
The Ministry of Trade presented an analysis highlighting the financial impact of suspending the food ration card system for certain beneficiaries. The analysis also included a review of procedures within ministries and governorates that have yet to fulfill their requirements.
Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs proposed amendments to the Foreign Service Law and its related regulations, aiming to reduce the number of years required for service abroad. These proposed changes are intended to enhance the efficiency and flexibility of foreign service operations.
In its tenth regular session, the Cabinet hosted Ali al-Lami, the head of the Federal Integrity Commission, for a review of the third and fourth quarter reports for 2025 concerning the Iraqi Funds Recovery Fund. This review is part of ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and integrity in the management of national funds.
