Ottawa: Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand has reiterated Canada’s firm stance against exporting military equipment to Israel for use in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that no new permits have been issued for such exports since January 2024.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Anand highlighted that the Canadian government has taken decisive action by halting the issuance of new export permits and freezing all existing permits that could facilitate the use of military components in the ongoing military operations in Gaza. She underlined that Canadian law strictly prohibits the export of controlled military goods without valid permits, and any breach of this law will result in legal repercussions, including fines, confiscation, and prosecution.

Anand refuted claims that Canada is exporting military equipment to Israel, calling such allegations “misleading and grossly distorting the facts.” She assured that Canada remains committed to refusing any export permits for materials that could be used in the P
alestinian-Israeli conflict. Furthermore, she warned that any attempts to bypass the national export system would face stringent legal measures.

The “Embed Arms Now” coalition, which consists of Canadian political and civil society movements, recently alleged that Canadian arms exports to Israel have persisted. The coalition reported monitoring hundreds of shipments from Canada to Israel since the onset of the conflict in the Gaza Strip in October 2023 through July 2025.
