Ottawa: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that his country intends to recognize the State of Palestine at the United Nations. Carney emphasized Canada’s commitment to supporting a two-state solution that ensures peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians. He stated that Ottawa will actively pursue this objective in various international forums, including the upcoming UN conference of foreign ministers focusing on the issue.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Carney also expressed Canada’s condemnation of the Israeli government’s inaction in preventing the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. This announcement follows a similar declaration by French President Emmanuel Macron, who revealed that France would officially recognize the State of Palestine before the UN General Assembly in September.
