Canada Wildfires Lead to Mass Evacuation in Manitoba

Baghdad: Canadian authorities announced the evacuation of approximately 21,000 people due to raging wildfires, in one of the largest evacuations in Manitoba’s history. Minister of Emergency Management Lisa Naylor shared that “the actual number of displaced people may be higher, as the figure only includes those registered with the Red Cross.” She emphasized that “thousands still need assistance.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Naylor noted that “the government is working in cooperation with its partners to provide adequate housing that meets medical and family needs.” She confirmed that 28 fires remain active, 10 of which are out of control. The situation remains critical as efforts continue to ensure the safety and well-being of affected residents.
