Abu dhabi: A celebratory evening entitled “You Forgot Us, Our Loved Ones” was held by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre to honor the cherished memories of late Emirati artist Jaber Jassim. This event paid tribute to Jassim, a significant figure in the development of Emirati song, commemorating the 25th anniversary of his passing.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Cultural Foundation Theatre hosted the event on the eve of the 35th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair. The evening featured two short films that narrated the story of Jassim’s artistic journey, highlighting his exploration of Emirati identity and the Arabic language through poetry. The films also depicted his inspiring journey in Cairo, where his melodies were refined and where he created numerous works that left a lasting impact on Emirati art.
The event saw artists Aryam, Sultan Al-Samarrai, Faisal Al-Sari, Khalifa Al-Houri, Majid Jamil, Ali Al-Rabeeah, and Mohammed Salem deliver memorable performances. They presented some of the most beautiful songs of Jassim, ensuring that his artistic legacy continues to resonate with audiences.
