Baghdad: The Veterinary Department is in discussions with Al Mashreq Arab Islamic Bank to activate a significant initiative by the Central Bank aimed at supporting veterinary sector projects valued at 1.2 trillion dinars.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Director General of the Veterinary Department at the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Mohammed Aziz Al-Mayahi, recently met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Mashreq Al-Arabi Islamic Bank and his deputy. The meeting focused on discussing the implementation mechanisms of the initiative, which aims to bolster key sectors contributing to sustainable development.
The initiative, already approved by the Central Bank of Iraq, designates 1.2 trillion Iraqi dinars for the support of both education and veterinary medicine sectors. The detailed plan includes the establishment of veterinary pharmaceutical and vaccine factories, construction of veterinary hospitals, clinics, and laboratories, as well as projects for manufacturing veterinary supplies and related equipment.
Dr. Al-Mayahi noted that potential beneficiaries of the initiative must secure approval from the Ministry of Agriculture, as the competent sectoral authority, and complete all requisite approvals from government agencies. This is in accordance with the amended Central Bank of Iraq Law No. (51) of 2004. He assured that the department will maintain coordination with relevant banks and will soon announce the application mechanism, conditions, and specific regulations once official instructions are issued.
