Baghdad: The Central Criminal Court issued a death sentence today, Wednesday, against a convict for the murder of two officers and three Ministry of Interior personnel.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Judicial Council Media Office confirmed that the Central Criminal Court handed down the death sentence to the convict involved in the murders of security forces personnel. The incident occurred during an operation aimed at resolving an armed tribal dispute in the Al-Ma’amel area, located east of Baghdad.

The Judicial Council Media Office detailed that the convict, along with other defendants, opened fire on the security forces. This attack resulted in the deaths of five individuals, including two officers and three Ministry of Interior personnel, and caused injuries to twelve others.

The ruling against the convict was based on Article 4/1, in alignment with Article 2/1, 3, and 5 of the Anti-Terrorism Law No. (13) of 2005.
