Chaldean Bishops In Iraq Call On Politicians To Form A Government Of National Competencies

Kirkuk The Chaldean bishops in Iraq called on politicians to adhere to national values, to give priority to the public interest over partisan agendas, and to sit together in a calm civilized dialogue for understanding and an end to the current tension created by the recent elections.

They said in a statement: “The Chaldean bishops in Iraq, who are meeting under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Patriarch Cardinal Louis Raphael Sacco at the summer patriarchal residence in the town of Ankawa, Erbil on Saturday morning, send an appeal, calling on all politicians to adhere to national and fraternal values, and to give priority to the public interest over partisan agendas and to sit together in a civilized and calm dialogue for understanding and ending the current tension created by the recent elections.

The bishops appealed to the political to expedite the formation of a government of national competencies, capable of achieving the demands of citizens and to spare the country from slipping for the worse. They stressed that threatening or using weapons to solve problems between brothers is one of the major taboos, in all customs, as weapons are for the defense of the homeland only.
