Beijing: China called today for an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East and respect for the sovereignty of Iran and all Gulf states, stressing that war serves no one's interests and that force is not the way to solve problems. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated during a press conference held on the sidelines of the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress in Beijing that China is urging an immediate cessation of military operations in the Middle East. He emphasized the need to prevent further escalation and avoid the spread of the conflict. He remarked that the war should never have commenced, as it benefits no one, and that using force is not a solution to problems but rather a catalyst for new animosities. The Chinese minister highlighted the importance of respecting the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of Iran and other Gulf states. He insisted that these should not be violated. He continued by stating that the people of the Mid dle East are the rightful stakeholders of the region and should be the ones to decide on its affairs. He urged major powers to uphold justice and take the correct path, contributing positively to peace and development in the Middle East. China has expressed concern over the potential escalation and widening of the conflict in the Middle East. The country announced its intention to dispatch a special envoy to the region to engage in mediation efforts.
