Civil Defense Contains Major Fire in Talibiya Area

Baghdad: The Civil Defense Directorate announced it has brought under control the fire that broke out in Talibiya area, east of Baghdad. In a statement, the directorate said, "Civil Defense teams successfully contained the fire that engulfed several buildings and commercial warehouses specializing in the sale and trade of spare parts and vehicle repair workshops in Talibiya area."

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Civil Defense teams deployed their newly acquired specialized vehicles from both Rusafa and Karkh sides of Baghdad, in addition to using ladder trucks to combat the fire from above. Water tankers were also deployed to provide the necessary water for the firefighting operations.

The directorate explained that after considerable effort, the teams managed to encircle the fire and isolate the burning building from neighboring buildings. Simultaneously, they carried out direct assault operations, entering the burning shops and workshops. The fire was extinguished in record time, despite the difficulty of extinguishing the oils and rubber and plastic spare parts used in the vehicles.

It was noted that cooling operations were completed without any reported injuries.
