CNN: The US military made secret arrangements with the “Taliban” to ensure American access to Kabul airport

Baghdad The American CNN network reported: “The US military has negotiated secret arrangements with the “Taliban” movement to escort members of the movement to groups of Americans to the gates of Kabul Airport.”

The network quoted US officials as saying: “The US special operations forces set up a “secret gate” at the airport and established “contact centers” to guide the Americans during the evacuation process.

The officials said the Americans were told to gather at “predetermined points” near the airport where the “Taliban” would collect the Americans, check their identification papers and take them a short distance to a gate operated by US forces.

One of the officials stated that “the tasks of guarding the Taliban were carried out several times per day,” noting that “one of the main gathering points was in the Ministry of Interior building, directly outside the airport gates, where US forces were easily able to monitor the approach of the Americans.”

On Tuesday night, the Pentagon announced that the US forces had finished evacuating all of their personnel from Afghanistan through Kabul International Airport and had transferred control of the airport to the “Taliban.”

For his part, US President Joe Biden said that ending the military mission in Afghanistan was the best way to protect American soldiers, and to secure the exit of willing civilians from there.
