Riyadh:Coalition forces have successfully intercepted three drones, as announced by Coalition Forces Spokesman Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki. The announcement was made on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account amidst ongoing conflicts between Coalition forces and the Houthis in various regions of Yemen.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Coalition had also recently intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis toward Khamis Mushait, a city located in the Asir region in southwest Saudi Arabia, about 14 hours prior to the drone interception.
Media outlets have reported explosions in the northern Riyadh area, likely linked to these aerial interceptions. So far, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or damage resulting from these incidents.
This series of events unfolds amid a pattern of escalating attacks targeting Saudi airports. The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation reported a recent attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which resulted in the death of a Pakistani national and injuries to 11 others. This attack was the fourth on the airport within five days and followed a missile strike that caused 13 deaths and over 300 injuries.
