Santiago: The player with the most impressive performance in the World Cup joins the Chilean league. Cape Verdean goalkeeper Fauzinha, one of the heroes of the last World Cup, will join Chilean club Colo-Colo, according to club president Anbal Musa. Musa expressed his delight to reporters before a local league match, saying, “Fauzinha will become a Colo-Colo player, and he will come to Chile in the coming days to undergo the usual medical tests before being presented here at the Monumental Stadium.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Fauzinha was one of the standout stars of the World Cup held in North America, delivering heroic performances despite being 40 years old, particularly in the group stage match against Spain (0-0), who went on to win the title last Sunday against Argentina. Fauzinha, whose real name is Josimar Jos© €š¬…¡¬°vora Dias, led the impressive Cape Verdean team to the round of 32, where they forced Argentina, the 2022 champions, into extra time (3-2).
Fauzinha has played in Cyprus, Slovakia, Moldova, and Angola before signing his first professional contract at the age of 26. The goalkeeper is expected to arrive at Colo-Colo from Chaves, a Portuguese second-division club. Anibal Musa added about Vuzinha, “Sportingly, he’s in very good shape, and that’s why we signed him.”
Thanks to his performance at the World Cup and with significant help from the renowned Brazilian influencer Casemiro, who brought him into the spotlight, Vuzinha became a hugely popular figure in just a few weeks, with his Instagram following jumping from 50,000 to nearly 30 million.
