Kirkuk: Gunmen assassinated a police colonel in Kirkuk. A security source stated, "Three people in a car opened fire on the officer in front of his house. One bullet struck his neck and three others his chest, leading to his death after he was taken to the hospital."
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Colonel Zaid Adel Sabih Jirjis, a member of the Christian community, previously served as the director of the Arafa police station in Kirkuk. For his part, Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari directed on Friday the formation of a high-level investigative committee to follow up on the assassination of Police Colonel Zaid Adel Sabih in Kirkuk.
