Baghdad: The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, has directed the implementation of a border security barrier with fortifications that are unprecedented in Iraq’s history. This directive was made during a reconnaissance visit to a security post in the Sinjar district, located on the border between Iraq and Syria.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commander-in-Chief stated that the visit aimed to gain firsthand knowledge of the preparations of all security formations. This was part of an inspection tour of the Anbar, Jazeera, and western Nineveh operational sectors. Al-Sudani highlighted that Iraq now possesses a distinctive defensive line with exceptional measures, developed by the Ministry of Interior over the past period. This development is considered one of the most important measures to prevent the infiltration of terrorists and to safeguard the nation’s official international borders.

Al-Sudani expressed confidence in the high capabilities and potential of Iraq’s forces from various security and military agencies. He emphasized their preparedness and readiness to prevent any terrorist threat to border security, stating, “There are lions guarding our borders and defending the country for which sacrifices were made in our battle against the ISIS terrorist gangs.”
