Baghdad: The Council of Ministers has approved the Ministerial Council for Energy’s recommendation concerning the route of a pipeline designed to transport crude oil from the “Tuba al-Faw” oil field, which boasts a capacity of 48 knots. This decision marks a significant step in enhancing the country’s energy infrastructure.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Council of Ministers, during its session held today, decided to increase the financial authority of the Director General of the Iraqi Drilling Company for a partnership contract established with the private sector. This move aims to strengthen collaboration with private entities in the oil sector.

The Council also authorized the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning to engage in negotiations and sign the United Nations Framework for Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development for the years 2025-2029. This framework will guide Iraq’s sustainable development initiatives over the coming years.

In addition, the Council of Ministers approved the commencement of a road project linking the Mohammed Al-Qasim Expressway with the Kirkuk-Baghdad Road. This project will pass through the Al-Basatin and Al-Suraidat neighborhoods. The Ministry of Construction and Housing will resort to the Expropriation Law (12 of 1981) to ensure that construction and land costs are determined. Compensation will be provided for the rights of residents affected by the road’s path.
