Baghdad: The Council of Ministers has given the green light for the construction of a floating regasification (FSRU) project aimed at importing gas to supply the Bismayah gas station with liquefied natural gas (LNG). This project is designed to have a capacity of 750 million standard cubic feet per day.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during its session held today, Tuesday, the Council of Ministers also approved a recommendation to include the component of equipping electric pumps across multiple governorates. This involves purchasing 70 floating pumps, which will be funded through allocations from the investment plan, resulting in an increase in the total cost of the project.

Additionally, the Council has authorized the Ministry of Electricity to sign an addendum to the contract for the inspection and maintenance of steam turbines used for electricity generation. This authorization includes an increase in the project cost to ensure the turbines are maintained efficiently.
