Baghdad: The Council of Ministers approved the “Baghdad Capital” draft law and has referred it to the Council of Representatives, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution. This move marks a significant development in the legislative process concerning the administrative and legal status of Baghdad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Council of Ministers also approved a draft law amending the first law to the Insurance Business Regulation Law (No. 10 of 2005). This amendment has also been referred to the Council of Representatives, adhering to the constitutional provisions. Additionally, the Council decided to authorize the Minister of Interior to negotiate and sign a draft cooperation agreement between Iraq and Spain.

In another decision, the Council has opted to reopen the Iraqi Embassy in the Thai capital, Bangkok. This decision is based on the provisions of the Foreign Service Law, the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, and the principle of reciprocity, marking a renewed diplomatic engagement between Iraq and Thailand.
