According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office highlighted that the Council of Ministers focused on the energy sector, approving the inclusion of the Majnoon oil field in social benefit projects. This inclusion is aligned with existing licensing contracts, allowing the Ministry of Oil/Basra Oil Company to carry out service projects as per the mechanism outlined in Cabinet Resolution 24318 of 2024. This resolution pertains to the execution of social benefit projects linked to licensing round contracts. Additionally, the Ministry of Finance is set to allocate $10 million annually from the Majnoon oil field account to facilitate the discussed projects within the planning budget of the operating company, Basra Oil Company.
