Council of Ministers Greenlights Key Initiatives on Water Scarcity and Infrastructure Projects


Baghdad: The Council of Ministers has given its approval to the minutes of the consultative meeting focused on addressing water scarcity and advancing the seawater desalination project. In its thirty-ninth regular session held today, the Council outlined necessary solutions and treatments to tackle these pressing issues.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Council also agreed on the allocation of plots of land in the governorates of Baghdad and Babylon for the construction of solar power plants. This move is part of a broader strategy to enhance the country’s renewable energy capacity.



In addition, the Council has approved the implementation of a federal electronic visa system, establishing a single platform for the issuance of entry visas to Iraq. This system aims to streamline the visa process and improve accessibility for foreign visitors.



Moreover, the Communications and Media Commission has been authorized to donate 5.3 billion dinars to support the National Cybersecurity Center. This decision is in accordance with the provisions outlined in Federal General Budget Law No. 13 of 2023.
