Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani led the twelfth regular session of the Council of Ministers, addressing key issues including solar energy initiatives and providing support to Palestinian and Yazidi communities. The session reviewed the latest developments in the country’s general situation, the implementation of the government program, and made decisions on the agenda items.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office announced that the Council decided to suspend official work for the week in observance of Eid al-Fitr. Additionally, it approved financial grants for orphans receiving aid under the social protection network.

The Council also focused on humanitarian aid, authorizing the Ministry of Health to dispatch medical supplies to Palestinian patients in Gaza treated in Egyptian hospitals. This decision will be coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Palestinian ambassador to Iraq, who will assess the status of wounded individuals in Iraq and offer recommendations to the Prime Minister.

Further decisions included support for the Yazidi community, with the Council approving a complete write-off of the purchase price of residential plots in Sinjar and al-Ba’aj. Restrictions on property disposal will remain in place for three years from ownership, following Cabinet Resolution No. 372 of 2019. This process is expected to be completed within 60 days.

In a move to diversify electricity sources, the Council approved the allocation of land in several governorates for the establishment of renewable energy (solar) plants. The Ministry of Agriculture will lift agrarian reform restrictions on these lands, with additional approvals required from relevant authorities in each case.
