Council of Ministers Moves Forward with Baghdad Summit Recommendations


Baghdad: The Council of Ministers has approved the report on the executive recommendations of the Baghdad Summit slated for 2025. The decision marks a significant step towards implementing the recommendations, supporting institutional activation of the outcomes, and enhancing Iraq’s regional role through a sequential and measurable implementation process.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the session held today, the Council of Ministers also approved the draft law ratifying the statute of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Action Center. This draft, reviewed by the State Council, will be referred to the Council of Representatives in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.



The Council further agreed to authorize the Minister of Finance, or her designated representative, to negotiate and sign, or initial, the draft law ratifying an agreement aimed at avoiding double taxation and preventing tax evasion on income and capital between Iraq and the Government of Britain and Northern Ireland. This action is aligned with constitutional provisions and involves the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ preparation of the necessary authorization document. This document will be submitted to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers to obtain the Prime Minister’s signature.
