Baghdad: The Council of Ministers has taken decisive action in response to violations identified in the Federal Integrity Commission’s investigation concerning the railway rehabilitation file. On Tuesday, the council approved the recommendations of the Diwani Order Committee No. 7 of 2025, which addressed issues highlighted in the commission’s report dated July 4, 2024.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office announced the council’s decision to dismiss two key officials for failing to fulfill their assigned duties. The individuals affected by this decision are Yaqoub Hussein Salem, Director General of the Legal Department at the Ministry of Transport, and Abbas Nasser Majeed, Director General of the Contracts and Licensing Department at the Ministry of Transport.
Furthermore, the report has been referred to the Federal Integrity Commission to facilitate the completion of investigation procedures by the competent court. This move underscores the council’s commitment to addressing and rectifying misconduct within the railway rehabilitation project and its associated contracts.
