Baghdad:A criminal network involved in forging property deeds and illegally clearing agricultural land has been dismantled in the Karkh district of Baghdad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency announced the operation on Sunday, stating that its Federal Police Intelligence units successfully dismantled the network. This action is part of ongoing efforts to protect state land and combat illegal activities related to land forgery and clearing.

The Agency revealed that the network was run by a group that included government employees and contractors. They were involved in clearing agricultural land and altering its features against regulations, defrauding citizens by selling the land for substantial sums of money.

The operation, based on precise intelligence, led to the apprehension of over ten suspects and the seizure of forged documents and large sums of money obtained through their fraudulent activities. The agency highlighted that the operation was con
ducted under proper judicial authorizations and that the statements of the accused have been recorded. The suspects and seized items have been referred to the competent judicial authorities for further legal action.
