Czech Republic Highlights Worsening Water Crisis in Iraq, Offers Cooperation

Prague:The Czech Republic has raised concerns over an escalating water crisis in Iraq and has expressed its willingness to assist by implementing modern technology solutions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ivo Marcin, the First Deputy Minister of the Environment of the Czech Republic, highlighted the severity of the water crisis in Iraq. He emphasized the importance of taking immediate action, suggesting that even a single practical step could begin to address these issues.

Marcin drew a comparison between the water situations in Iraq and the Czech Republic, noting that while the Czech Republic is the source of rivers flowing into other European countries, Iraq relies on rivers that originate outside its borders. This difference results in Iraq receiving limited and often polluted water. He proposed offering a study to Iraq to help identify and analyze its water quality needs and stressed the necessity of wise water management to ensure fair distribution using modern technologies.

The Czech government official reaffirmed ongoing cooperation with Iraq in the water sector, expressing eagerness to strengthen this relationship. He invited the Iraqi side to outline the challenges they face in the water sector to facilitate continued collaboration and take practical steps forward.
