Baghdad: Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum announced on Tuesday the commencement of natural gas supplies from Khor Mor field to Ministry of Electricity power plants in Kirkuk province.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the two companies stated, "Under the agreement signed with the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity last December, Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum, as the joint operators of the Kurdistan Gas Project, will supply 100 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas from the Khor Mor gas processing facility to the Taza Gas Power Plant in Kirkuk for an initial period of one year, contributing to increased electricity generation and improved related services across Iraq."
The statement added that this milestone marks a significant step in the two companies' strategy to expand gas sales, following the completion of the Khor Mor 250 expansion project, which entered operation in October 2025 and increased the production capacity of the Khor Mor facility by 50% to 750 million standard cubic feet per day.
It noted that the expansion has enabled the partners to enter new markets and provide much-needed gas supplies through pipelines from the Khor Mor gas processing facility in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
According to the statement, Majid Hamid Jaafar, Chief Executive Officer of Crescent Petroleum and Managing Director of the Board of Dana Gas, said, "The first gas supply to Iraq's Ministry of Electricity marks a significant milestone in the two companies' journey to develop the gas sector in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It also helps meet the growing demand for electricity across Iraq and contributes to improving the services provided to citizens. We extend our gratitude to our partners in the Kurdistan Regional Government, the local authorities in Sulaymaniyah, and Iraq's Ministry of Electricity for their continued support and cooperation, which have been instrumental in achieving this milestone."
Richard Hall, Chief Executive Officer of Dana Gas, remarked, "This agreement marks an important step as we begin to reap the benefits of our ongoing expansion programme. By leveraging the additional production capacity delivered by the Khor Mor 250 project, it lays the foundation for further cooperation in the energy sector within Iraq's growing market, strengthening energy security and supporting the delivery of more reliable electricity services."
