Basra: A dangerous gang involved in a robbery-motivated murder has been arrested in Basra, according to a statement from the Basra Police Command. The provincial police commander, Major General Latif Abdul-Ridha Al-Saad, initiated a task force led by the Director of the Crime Control Department, with support from the Township Anti-Robbery Division and the Basra SWAT Regiment. The gang’s location was identified through surveillance footage and gathered intelligence.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the arrest operation took place in the early hours of the morning, less than four hours after the crime occurred. The security forces raided the gang’s hideout, leading to their arrest following an exchange of fire. The weapon used in the murder was also recovered during the operation. Investigations have revealed that the gang is wanted in connection with more than 10 robbery and theft cases within the provincial capital.

The police commander highlighted that this successful operation sends a strong message to criminals, affirming that Basra’s security services are alert and capable of swiftly apprehending offenders.
