Hilla: A source in Hilla Women’s Prison revealed today the death of one of the inmates from Baghdad Governorate who was sentenced to life imprisonment for a crime related to drug trafficking.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the inmate died in a health center affiliated with the prison due to symptoms of illness. The source further stated, “A woman from Baghdad Governorate who was sentenced to life imprisonment for a crime related to drug trafficking died in a health center affiliated with the prison due to symptoms of illness.”
The authorities have since transferred the body to the forensic medicine department to determine the exact cause of death. The incident has raised concerns about the health facilities available to inmates within the prison system and the monitoring of prisoners’ health conditions.
