Paris: Defense Minister Thabet Mohammed Saeed Al-Abbasi has arrived in France for an official visit, accompanied by senior commanders and officers from the Ministry of Defense.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, during his visit, Al-Abbasi met with his French counterpart, S©bastien Lecornu, at the French Ministry of Defense headquarters. Discussions covered several critical topics, including the regional security situation and the role of the international coalition in Iraq. The dialogue also touched on the NATO mission in Iraq, with France set to lead the mission starting next May. The bilateral relations between Iraq and France, especially concerning security, were a significant focus of their talks.
Further discussions involved the contract between the Iraqi and French Ministries of Defense for supplying Caracal aircraft to the Iraqi Army Aviation Command. Additionally, both parties reviewed the progress on implementing the contract to equip the Iraqi Air Defense Command with air defense radars.
