Tehran: Deputy Parliament Speaker Ali Nikzad emphasized in a Parliament open session that the safety and normal lives of Europeans are largely due to Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani’s efforts in dismantling ISIS. Nikzad’s comments were made in conjunction with the Ten-Day Dawn anniversary celebrations, highlighting the significance of Soleimani’s military achievements in ensuring European security.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Nikzad asserted that the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) is a formidable and skilled force with extensive expertise in various fields both within Iran and globally. He cautioned Europeans to recognize that their current safety is a result of Soleimani’s actions against ISIS, implying that without his intervention, their security situation could be vastly different.
The European Union recently classified the IRGC as a terrorist organization on January 29, a move confirmed by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on X. This decision has been met with strong opposition from Iran, which maintains that the IRGC is a legitimate military body. Iranian officials have warned that such actions by the EU are illegal and contravene the United Nations Charter, asserting that any measures against the IRGC would be unjust and unwarranted.
