Islamabad: The Pakistan Disaster Management Authority has reported a grim situation in Pakistani Kashmir, where 63 civilians have been killed and more than 50 injured due to Indian military actions over the past 12 hours. The announcement comes amidst escalating tensions between the two neighboring countries.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the recent surge in violence follows a terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, located in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepalese citizen. In response, India claimed to possess evidence implicating Pakistan’s intelligence agency in orchestrating the attack.

As a result of the accusations, relations between India and Pakistan have rapidly declined. The two countries have imposed mutual restrictions, suspended bilateral agreements, and closed their airspace to each other’s aircraft as tensions have continued to rise.

On the night of May 7, the situation escalated further when the Indian Armed Forces initiated Operation Sindur. This military operation targeted nine locations within Pakistan and the Pakistani-administered region of Kashmir, sparking the current wave of violence that has led to significant civilian casualties.
