Diwaniyah: Al-Zaydi addresses the problems of Diwaniyah after meeting with the local government and members of parliament representing the province.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Member of Parliament for Diwaniyah Governorate, Basim al-Gharabi, announced the launch of the “Diwaniyah Deserves It” initiative, a comprehensive governmental framework aimed at addressing the governorate’s needs and expediting the implementation of its stalled and delayed projects.

Following a meeting between the Diwaniyah local government, members of parliament, and Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, al-Gharabi stated through his media outlet that the “Diwaniyah, the Agricultural Capital of Iraq” project has been adopted. This initiative leverages the governorate’s substantial agricultural potential, transforming it into a governmental program encompassing agricultural projects, processing industries, infrastructure, and direct support for farmers.

Al-Gharabi indicated the formation of a high-level governmental committee specifically for Diwaniyah Governorate. This committee will be tasked with monitoring projects, addressing obstacles and basic needs, following up on projects, resolving issues, and submitting recommendations and solutions directly to the relevant senior executive authorities.

He emphasized the creation of a comprehensive vision for the governorate, which includes the agricultural, industrial, and service sectors, as well as investment in stalled factories and job opportunities. This vision aims to align with Diwaniyah’s nature, potential, and the needs of its residents, while addressing the existing investment imbalances.

Al-Gharabi added that the Minister of Finance has been instructed to release a total of one trillion dinars. Of this amount, 650 billion dinars will be allocated to the Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Municipalities to fund stalled and ongoing projects suffering from funding shortages. Efforts will be made to ensure that Diwaniyah receives a significant and fair share of these funds, proportional to the size of its projects and its actual needs.

Furthermore, 350 billion dinars have been released to settle outstanding payments to farmers and agricultural workers. This step is crucial for an agricultural province like Diwaniyah and other provinces, as it is expected to have a direct impact on supporting farmers, stimulating markets, and revitalizing the local economy.
