Diyala: The Diyala Provincial Council convened its 58th regular session under the leadership of Council Chairman Omar al-Karawi, with participation from Deputy Chairman Salem al-Tamimi and 11 council members. The session was notable for hosting the Deputy Governor of Diyala for Municipal Affairs, Furat Jaloub, who was invited to discuss corruption cases and files he had previously shared on his personal social media page.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the council emphasized its dedication to tackling these corruption cases with urgency. They called for all pertinent documents and evidence to be submitted promptly, enabling the necessary legal actions to be taken. This move is part of the council's broader commitment to exercising its oversight role effectively, promoting transparency, and safeguarding public funds.

Additionally, the council engaged with the directors of the municipalities and water departments to address the kerosene shortage crisis affecting the province's departments. The discussions aimed at identifying the root causes of the shortage and finding immediate solutions to ensure the continuous delivery of essential services to citizens.

The session also broached the topic of water service privatization and the established collection mechanisms. A decision was made to form a specialized committee tasked with monitoring revenues from water, sewage, and municipal services. This committee will audit collection processes and oversee procedures to ensure transparency, improve resource management efficiency, and protect public funds.
