Baghdad: The Khormor gas field in Qadir Karam district, Sulaymaniyah province, was targeted Wednesday night by a drone strike that hit gas storage tanks inside the facility, causing an explosion followed by a large fire. No information has yet been released regarding possible casualties. The Ministries of Natural Resources and Electricity in the Kurdistan Region announced a complete halt in gas supply to power generation stations as a result of the attack. They affirmed that specialized teams, in coordination with Dana Gas, are working to address the incident and restore normal operations. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Joint Operations Command stressed that those behind this 'treacherous act' will be held fully accountable, noting that the attack has had a negative impact on the electrical system, particularly in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, and has damaged the country's energy resources.
