Drug Dealer Arrested in Eastern Baghdad with Weapons and Narcotics


Baghdad: A drug dealer was apprehended by traffic patrols in the New Baghdad area in possession of narcotics, weapons, and drug paraphernalia, leading to his arrest and the confiscation of all illegal items.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Interior reported that the arrest was made by patrols from the New Baghdad Traffic Directorate. The operation, which took place in eastern Baghdad, was conducted under the direct supervision of the Director General of Traffic, Lieutenant General Uday Samir. The traffic patrol was carrying out routine vehicle and driver checks when they became suspicious of a particular vehicle.



Upon conducting the necessary legal procedures, the patrol discovered narcotics and unlicensed weapons within the vehicle. The driver was immediately arrested, and all discovered items were confiscated. The Ministry’s press release highlighted that the duties of the General Directorate of Traffic extend beyond traffic regulation and enforcement. They also play a role in enhancing security and law enforcement in coordination with other security agencies.



The General Directorate of Traffic emphasized the significance of their patrols in maintaining security and order. The suspect, along with the seized materials and weapons, was handed over to the competent authorities to proceed with investigative and legal actions as per the law. Traffic patrols continue to conduct field duties to ensure public safety and security.
